The emotional focus of the space is undoubtedly the fireplace, positioned in the centre of the living room to provide a visual, functional and technological hub.
The lacquered false ceiling was installed to house part of the home theatre equipment and cabling: directional speakers and a high-definition projector.
The spatial “wedge” of the woodpanelled staircase encloses the guest bathroom, which is almost hidden, and the continuation of the panelling from kitchen to living room becomes a key element in the design. The panelling features slats of the same height as the stairs, using the book-matching technique to create longitudinal symmetry on the entire height of the wall.
Besides the bathroom, the understairs area has a cupboard with a shaped door with push opening.
